The trade-off is size: a photograph saved as PNG can be several times larger than the same image as JPG, so PNG is not suited to camera photos you need to keep small.
WEBP — WebP. WebP is a modern format from Google that supports both lossy and lossless modes, transparency and even animation. At comparable quality it is typically 25–35% smaller than JPG and much smaller than PNG, which is why it is now the default for fast-loading websites. Every current browser displays it, though some older desktop apps and upload forms still do not accept it.
